What is a double blessing? God wants to bless you, beyond our ability to ask or imagine. Blessings beyond wealth, health an prosperity but blessings of the spirit's fruit as it is written in Galations 5:22 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." God does not bless disobedience, pride, greed, or laziness and his blessing is not an immunity card, it will take sacrifice, a fair share of earthly suffering, but on the other side, a double blessing.
At the end of Elijah's days he asked his apprentice, Elisha what can I do for you? Elisha answered "let me inherit a double portion of your spirit". 2 Kings 2:9 Elisha was Elijah's double portion and Elisha was Elijah's double blessing. It is not about getting more for yourself, but what we have invested into others that pay dividends years later in miracles they receive from your blessings bestowed upon them. The key is to ask and pray for the blessings and if you are willing to double down on your work ethic and prayer ethic, a double portion.
