A weekly devotional with 52 seed thoughts and scripture to help guide our step
Week 19 May 4 Live Worry-free "Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God." Philippians 4:6 When you believe your prayer will be answered, it grieves the Holy Spirit when you worry and doubt.
Week 20 May 11 Honor Thy Mother "Honor thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." Exodus 20:12 I remember my mother and my grandmother where they received respect and honor from their children. Shared wisdom from them can shape your life and reflects the faith they had to bless your family.
Week 21 May 18 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" 2 Timothy 1:7 If we have faith, fear has no place where you reside. Remember what is written in Philippians 4:19 "My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus"
Week 22 May 25 God Answers Prayers "We're watching and waiting, holding our breath, awaiting your word of mercy" Psalm 123:2 I am aware pf ways God answers prayers that includes: reading the Bible, through prayer, through other people, through a child, through a situation, through an open door or closed door. Trust in the Lord that he hears your prayers and will answer them with perfect timing, even if it is a "No" or "not yet". Week 23 June 1 Living Happily Ever After "Wives, be subject to your husbands as to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her." Ephesians 5:22, 25 Communicate with mutual respect, knowing men and women express differently. Keep open to their feelings, ideas and find common ground that works for both of you.
Week 24 June 8 Forgive and Forget "Like an athlete I .....train my body to do what it should, not what it wants to." 1 Corinthians 9:27 Our human nature would have us get even rather than forgiving someone who hurt us. Matthew 5:44 says "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you."
Week 25 June 15 Stand Strong Romans 8:28 says "We are assured and know that all things work together and are for good to and for those who love God are are called according to His design and purpose." Even though you may be going through a trial or test of your faith, know that there is a purpose, as Jeremiah 29:11 says "For I know the plans I have for you, "says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." This does not keep you from giving into temptation that sidetracks his plans, and could contribute to pain that God did not author. So know if you face trials, God is with you in the middle of it and will not leave you.
Week 26 June 22 The Way to Win James 1:5-7 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, that giveth to all men generously to without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord." Keeping a positive attitude will push you forward to winning. Think of what is written in Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" With God's strength and wisdom to guide you, rely on his faithfulness and he will give you the ability to carry out the plan he has for your destiny in life.
Week 27 June 29 God Can Turn it All Around "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." as it is written in Proverbs 22:6. So, many of us feel as if we failed our child(ren) by not giving attention to what they were doing or correcting them. We may feel guilty of not bring them to church to learn about God's word. If you feel this is something you have done, your prayers to God to confess this and ask for his help in guiding them to a more righteous life is best. If they are angry or resentful, your words may add to their anger, God can reach them in his infinite grace. Pray that witnesses will come across their path and ask them for forgiveness for anything he is angry with you about. Have faith God can turn it around and surround them with love and faith.
Week 28 July 6 A Word in due Season "The Lord will guide you always: he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame . . . " Isaiah 58:11 How do you know what your purpose is that God is calling you to do? Romans 12:6-8 says "We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.
