A Six week Bible Study on Enjoying God in His Word
A Bible study designed for Woman looking for an engaging and theologically-rich format. Much of the format is themed around flowers, bees and honey where we can find how they relate in growing in godliness. The principles of gather, knowledge and digesting the Word is used.
Week One: Study the Word
Studying the Bible takes work, the sweet honey of knowing God in his Word is more than checking off tasks, but of entering the process and building fruit while sharing how with others. There can be obstacles to prepare for the weekly meeting, some could have limited time, some have physical disabilities, mental fatigue, a feeling of inadequacy or confusion, or fear of being convicted of sin, not doing it right, not having the same desire to learn. What is your hope to completing the Sweeter than Honey study?
Gather the knowledge with humility and insight. Read Deuteronomy 6:1-15 What commandment is given in verse 5? Who are the original believers? Who is the prophet in Deuteronomy 5:1? How are the Israelites to interact with the commandments?
Digest the knowledge from the big ideas in the verses noted above. How do you become blessed? How do you meditate? Read and summarize what is said about God's Word in the following verses: Deuteronomy 32:47; Psalm 1:1-2; Psalm 119:18: Psalm 119:24; Psalm 119:40; Psalm 119:71; Psalm 119:92-93; Psalm 119:103; John 6:66-69
Week One, My Response
I enjoy interacting with people who sincerely want to share their journey studying God's Word. There are some limitations I have that may slow me down, including mental fatigue, body aches, interruptions . I want to meet people where they are and support them with my knowledge gained through other bible studies.
Deuteronomy 6:5 "Love the Lord our God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." This is the first commandment given to Moses on tables for the Israelites. The commandments instruct then to keep them on their hearts, impress them upon their children's hearts. tie symbols on their hands and foreheads, and unite them on their doorframes.
A blessed person has become consecrated or holy in the eyes of the Lord. They prosper and meditate on his Word and pray day and night. They are like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season. The blessed pray not just with idle words. Blessed are those who do not walk in step with the wicked. You become blessed in how your joy is to follow God's precepts and not neglect His Word. His statutes are a delight and counsel them. I pray that my life will be preserved with your righteousness. Afflictions will give ways to learn your decrees. Without His law and my obedience, I would have perished. How sweet are your words, more sweeter than honey. Jesus told his disciples they must remember him though drinking his blood by a symbol of wine, and eat his flesh as bread as a symbol to have eternal life. He asked the 12, they said to whom shall we go, you have the Words of eternal life.
Week Two The Unchanging Word
When studying the Word of God, consider who wrote the book you are studying, for example, the Book of Genesis is written by Moses. You can usually find this in the first page of each book in the Bible. Also, when was the book written and what was the circumstances and background geographically and historically.
As you study this weeks lesson, found in Ephesians 1:1-14, consider who wrote the book, how does the author describe himself? What do you know about the author? What news of an anticipated future give the author prophesy to the elders of the church in Ephesus? Why do you think the author begins the letter with the content in the passage?
